Grand Canyon

Today I was up to watch the sunrise. I hadn't really planned it but our neighbours were up at 5 am and decided to bang about and catch up the news on TV. Around 6 am lots of cabin doors began to open and clatter shut. I thought a Rim View Cabins at the Grand Canyon would be cute not creaky and noisy. I gave up trying to sleep and went to watch the sunrise. I was surprised how many people were there watching the sunrise. A nice experience.

Once Hazel came to life (don't know how she slept through the noise) we had breakfast then set off to walk the Rim Trail from Bright Angel Lodge (our cabin location) to Hermits Rest some 8 miles away.

The Rim Trail was "awesome" and at times it was certainly on the very rim of the canyon 5000 ft almost a vertical mile below.

We caught the shuttle bus back to the Grand Canyon Village then took a short hike below the the canyon rim on the Bright Angel trail.
