Across the Sierra Navada mountains.

We departed Yosemite Lodge this morning to make our way via Tiaga Pass at 9943ft to the eastern side of the Sierra Navada mountains.
First stop was Olmstead Point to look back down Tenaya Canyon towards Half Dome.

Tenaya Lake.

Tuolumne Meadows and Soda Springs at 8600ft. Had a lovely picnic here.

Bodie Wild West Ghost Town.
The town sprung up in 1859 as a gold mine town and its population increased to between 5000 and 7000 people. By 1886 the town was in decline as gold had been discovered elsewhere. By 1915 it was declared a ghost town and the last people to live there was in 1945. Bodie is now kept in a state of arrested decay.

"Legend has it that a little girl, upon finding out that her family was moving to Bodie, prayed one night, "Goodbye God, we are going to Bodie."

  1. Mountains and lakes look very pretty and Bodie looks fascinating. Nice that it's just been left.
